Three Oaks Recreation Area in the City of Crystal Lake, IL. offers clean, beautiful grounds and sparkling, clear waters on a 330 acre lake with crystal clear water, 8 islands, 5 bays, and no power boats to distract you from having a good time!
Stand-up paddle boarding is the #1 outdoor event this summer. It's a great way to enjoy the South Lake, which takes a couple hours to paddle around. Paddlers can view the plentiful wildlife include fish and turtles while paddle-boarding over the clear, calm waters. Stand up paddle boarding (SUP) offers a fun way to play on the water, with the added benefit of a excellent full-body core workout. And, since you stand at full height on your board, it gives you a unique vantage point for viewing what’s down under the water and out on the horizon.
Since this is a relatively new activity, it’s still growing in popularity in Illinois. Always wear proper floatation devices and take a few lessons before going out on the water if you’re a newbie.

Park entrance / parking fee has been waived.
Four Winds will meet under a "pop-up" tent near the Board House just right of the parking lot.
Cost: $45.00 on Four Winds web site via PayPal. Weather permitting, all refundable except PayPal fee.
Limited space of 15, Sorry, No walk-up's allowed for paddleboards.

Equipment included: Individual boards have bungee cords for your sack lunch / beverage, ankle tether and life jacket must be worn at all times. There is also one 6 person board available on request that could be used for a family or group of friends.
Note: Pricing above is only for Paddle Boarding
There are kayaks and canoes available for rent located at the Board House. Arrangements for rental would be on your own.
Be Prepared!
Wear quick dry clothing: (ie polyester, dri-fit)
Bring sunscreen, water shoes, towel, water.
Sunglasses will fall off if you fall in the water!
You can purchase glass retainers and waterproof phone cases at the Board House.
Cubbies available for storage, Do Not Bring Valuables
On the Lake
You must wear the PFD vest provided at all times.
No swimming off the board. Swim back to your board asap when you fall in.
Stay out of the swim area, scuba area or marina dock area.
Do not go on shore except for the Board House launch area.
Pets are not allowed on your board or in the water.
If you have a problem when out in the water, hold on to your board, wave your hands over your head. The patrol boat will assist you
