Four Winds donates to SEWASP - New Equipment Trailer

SEWASP has been conducting a fundraising campaign for a new equipment trailer. We are up to $20,000 as of today! The response has been amazing and far beyond our expectations! I want to thank the clubs and their members who have made donations. Your generosity for this fundraising campaign and in support of other needs we have had over the years is humbling.

We are going to purchase the trailer today. The cost of the trailer plus materials to outfit it plus several hitches plus the vinyl on the outside totals around $11,000.

If you still wish to make a donation, go to the donation page of our website at:
Donate & Support - SouthEastern Wisconsin Adaptive Ski Program

SEWASP is a 501c3 nonprofit organization.

SEWASP will be sending out emails in October asking people about taking lessons. So, if you know anyone interested in taking an adaptive ski lesson, please have them send an email indicating their interest to Terri Henderson at sewaspemail2@gmail.com before October.

The SouthEastern Wisconsin Adaptive Ski Program, or SEWASP (pronounced “see-wasp”), provides adaptive alpine skiing and snowboard lessons for people with disabilities in southeastern Wisconsin and surrounding areas.  “Adaptive” refers to the modified equipment and teaching techniques used to enable skiers and snowboarders to participate safely and as independently as possible.  Instruction is generally provided at Alpine Valley Ski Resort near East Troy, Wisconsin (southwest of Milwaukee on I-43), on Thursday evenings from January through mid-March.

SEWASP provides lessons for participants with all types of disabilities including, but not limited to:

  • physical (spinal cord injury, cerebral palsy, spina bifida, multiple sclerosis, muscular dystrophy)
  • brain injury
  • intellectual disability
  • autism
  • sensory (blind and low vision, Deaf and hard of hearing)

The program provides adaptive ski equipment and equipment fitting. Equipment provided includes bi-skis and mono-skis for participants who may sit down when they ski. Some skiers have their own equipment.
