Lodge Appreciation – October 2021 Trip
On Friday, October 1st, 2021 the club hosted a lodge appreciation day weekend for our members. The cost per member was only $10 and included dinner on Saturday night as well as breakfast on Saturday and Sunday. Sheri hosted the event with Pat, Kathy, Marcia, Tony, Al, Russ and Diane attending.
After a hearty breakfast of eggs and pancakes as well as coffee cake and cereal some went hiking while most of us went to Boyne Highlands for an Oktoberfest event with live acoustic music, apple cider, donuts, smores, and food for purchase. We rode the chair lift to the top and viewed the changing colors as we enjoyed Oktoberfest. Sometime later we headed to Boyne Mountain as they were also hosting an Oktoberfest event. They had a beer mug competition where each contestant attempted to hold full beer mugs straight out for as long as possible. Sheri competed in that but the rest of us just watched. We also went to the top of Boyne Mountain to look at the fall colors there as well. There were plenty of food trucks but we decided to head back to the lodge for some snacks and then a spaghetti dinner with garlic bread. Once we finished dinner Marcia and Tony made homemade and right from the oven apple crisp and then we topped it off with ice cream. After the wonderful dinner and desert, we enjoyed our entertainment for the evening thanks to Marcia singing and Tony playing guitar. They are both very talented and we really enjoyed listening to them both. The next morning, we had a nice breakfast and then cleaned up the lodge, loaded up our cars, and headed for home since it was an overcast morning.
Thank you, Sheri, for hosting this wonderful event and for making our breakfasts and dinner. For those who missed out on this lodge appreciation weekend event perhaps you can join next time.
