This Year’s Picnic was bright sunny & a bit balmy, with temperature in the 90’s. Most people love a picnic & the heat could not keep them away. We had 153 people attend 22 clubs where represented, the Four Winds Ski Ride & Socialize having 32 attendees, Kirby in 2nd place with 26 & Chicagoland Club 50 taking 3rd with 12 members attending. Club 50 took advantage of the club house this year & had a club meeting & enjoyed the Picnic, good use of time.
New this year was a Callaway golf fundraiser for the Norge Jumpers. Two Kiddie Pools were put in place & we tried to shoot the balls into the pools. Everyone enjoyed the challenge & one of us actually put it in. We are much better on the slopes than on the golf range.
The prizes for the golf challenge or the raffle tickets were donated by C.M.S.C. Two White Fish trips were up for grabs. This generated $700. For the Norge self-funded internationally recognized ski club. Thanks to all who participated.
Precautions were in place to keep us safe, Hand Sanitizer was abundant and our touchless Buffet kept the food flowing. Even with all that heat people can still eat. Must be some magic in that grill because the line never ends.
Norge Ski Jumpers took to the skies with a junior jumping competition on the 5, 10 & 25, meter kids as young as 5 years old gave it their all. We than moved on to the big boys the 40- & 70-meter jumps are always fun to watch.
12 of us camped along with 4 dogs this year. We shared stories of trips gone bye & better days ahead. The camping crew pitched in a created a wonderful breakfast for all.
I would like to thank my volunteers for all their help. Noreen Vonckx & various others keeping Noreen company throughout the day at the check in booth, Glenn Yoshimura & Mark Rzucidlo as Grill Masters, Kirby & Jeanne with games & lastly C.M.S.C. for sponsoring this event.
