June bike ride on Popular Creek Trail in review

Four Winds first summer socially distance event was a bike ride held Saturday June 27th at Popular Creek Trail System in Hoffman Estates IL.

We had a total of 8 clubbers sign up for the ride on the lengthier hike; Red Trail Loop.   We all met before 10:30 AM in the parking lot of Carl R Hansen Woods, just off Route 59.

It was a very humid morning but we all were ready to ride on the 9 mile paved trail.   We geared up our bikes with plenty of drinks, and stayed our distance to take pictures of the group.   Russ B. took the selfie of all of us standing in the shade showing that we kept our 6 feet apart.  Also pictured is, Rick B., Ron & Kathleen H., Sheri B. and Gregg S.   Later on, we met up with Guy L. and Judy (not pictured).

Trail was a very nice and scenic with mostly flat  / divided paved surface but some challenging hills too.   It did however cross over many busy intersections of traffic but we all kept our safe distances.   The ride was a hot and very humid one, but we were glad to hit some shade and refreshments when we returned to the parking lot.   We visited briefly and then headed home for the day.   It was a great time together and plan on doing more bike rides in the future.
