Four Winds - 2019 Annual Holiday Party in review

The Four Winds Annual Holiday Party was held on Friday, December 13, 2019, at the Villa Olivia Banquets and Ski Resort located in Bartlett, Ill.

Forty club members attended this year's holiday event. Everyone arrived at 6:30 PM for a social time with friends, and our party started at 7:00 PM in the Sapphire Room with a tasty unlimited hot and cold Hor d'Oeuvres buffet.  After an hour or so of eating yummy food, the Ski-Son's Greeting Four Winds "Hangin' with my Gnomies" ski cake was served by clubber; Kristie C.

Our social committee chairs; Sheri B. and Gregg S. had planned a few holiday ski & ride games to play during the evening.

The first-holiday game was a Four Wind's word scramble.  We had a two-way tie for the first ones to complete the word scramble correctly, Four Winds teenagers; Ben W. and Chane D.  They were awarded a surprise gift bag.

The second-holiday game was a Santa "Ho-Ho" contest. It was a team effort with Patrick C., Russ B, Sherri B. and Rich F.  Clubber's voted by a show of hands who sounded like the best Four Winds Santa. This ended as a tie between Patrick C. and Rich F.  Each was awarded a surprise gift bag.

For the third holiday game, everyone was asked to stand up by their tables.  Trivia questions were asked based on the history of the Four Winds Ski Club.  As the game went on, most everyone was seated except one table of loyal clubbers; Tom & Carol T., Rich & Judy S. and JoAnn & Tom L. all that have been Four Winds club members for more than 40 years.  Now that's what you call dedication to a ski club!  Boy did that start some good conversations among the clubbers.

Our final holiday game was everyone's annual favorite, the Holiday White Elephant gift exchange.  Everyone was asked to draw a number then the fun began. Sheri B. decided to switch up the game a bit this year.  Instead of starting with the person with the #1 tag, we started the gift exchange with #5 leaving number one to be the last to swap or unwrap a gift.  Some of the numbered tags had trick words like steal a gift instead of opening a new gift. It was a fun and more challenging way to play the white elephant gift exchange game.  As always, Four Winder's brought their best gifts with a few surprises.  There were plenty of stealing gifts this year, from a skiing Santa to an Egyptian vase, flower frames to a couple of ceramic cuckoo clocks, to a "Yeki to Party" costume.

Celebrating the holiday season with Four Winds Ski, Ride and Socialize Club is full of traditions, a time spent in the warm circle of family and friends.
