In early October, Four Winds held a drive-up trip to Door County, Wisconsin to enjoy the fall colors and the Pumpkin Patch Festival activities in the area. Most drove up during the day on Friday, October 11th, 2019. Some went to see a local theatre play and that evening most went to a fish boil at Sisters Bowl for dinner. Once dinner was over the remaining stragglers arrived. Everyone gathered that evening for some games, relaxing, and good conversation at the main house at Coachlite Inn and Suites in Sister Bay that nine of the attendees stayed at. The remaining seven stayed at hotel rooms also at the Coachlite so everyone was in walking distance of each other.
On Saturday the schedule was fairly open and relaxed. Most went to the Pumpkin Patch Festival in Egg Harbor. Many local vendors were promoting their items for sale and there were also plenty of food, music and carnival rides to enjoy as well. That Saturday evening, we all went to the Old Post Office in Fish Creek to enjoy the fish boil. Most had the white fish from the fish boil while others had ribs and some had chicken. It was a delicious meal.
On Sunday some went to a late breakfast at Al Johnson’s in Sister Bay for some Swedish Pancakes and other breakfast items. Unfortunately, due to the chilly and wet weather the goats were not on the roof. Oh well still a wonderful breakfast. Others went to local vendors to check out various foods and items of interest in the area. Later that day some went on a trolley ride that started in Egg Harbor. The ride highlighted the fall colors in the area, the local pumpkin patch festival, and Peninsula State Park. The guide was very informative and quite humorous and filled us in on plenty of local facts. It was quite a fun and relaxing ride. Later that evening we all gathered at the main house for a club meal with lots of food and games. Everyone had brought something to share.
On Columbus Day, Monday, October 14th we all said our goodbyes and headed back home. Thank you to all who attended this wonderful event and made it such a great success!
