A drive up trip to the lodge was held the weekend of February 22nd, 2019 to February 24th, 2019. A dozen Four Winds members participated on the trip. Everyone arrived sometime on Friday, February 22nd and hung out in the kitchen for a bit to catch up on how everyone was doing and enjoy some beverages and munchies.
On Saturday, February 23rd most of us went skiing or snowboarding at Nubs Nob. We had a nice changing room that Kathy had requested for the club. It is so nice to be able to just put your items in a room and come and go as you please and just lock the door behind you and all of your items are safe for the duration of the day. The skiing was wonderful with plenty of groomed runs and temperatures in the mid-20s.
I managed to ski with Pat, Kathy, Sheri, Kevin, and Sarah at various points in the day. Frank skied although we never crossed paths and Dennis was teaching Lauren the finer points of snowboarding on the bunny hill. Diane and Sherie did some snowshoeing with Pat joining later in the day while still in her ski boots. Christine did some antiquing in the area and indicated that she had a wonderful time.
Saturday night we all had a great pasta dinner at the lodge made by our chefs for the event, Pat and Kathy. Plenty of food and it was so tasty! We played the game Apples to Apples for much of the evening after dinner along with having ice cream and other munchies and also some hot chocolate with butterscotch schnapps and other beverages. What a great night with plenty of fun and wonderful conversation.
Unfortunately the winds of change weather wise occurred late Saturday night. A big wind storm along with rain began on Saturday night and the forecast was for ultimately blizzard conditions on Sunday. It continued to rain on Sunday morning so we all packed up our bags and hit the road at various times during the morning on Sunday to get ahead of the storm as much as possible. The ride home was not the easiest as the rain changed to snow which was blowing everywhere. There were plenty of trees on the side of the road that were blown over on the side of the road and even on the road in some areas.
We all made it home safe and sound though without issue. Thanks once again to Pat and Kathy for running a wonderful trip and so glad that Dennis, Lauren, Sherie, Frank, Sarah, Kevin, Christine, Diane, Sheri as well as our trip leaders were able to join in the fun. Thanks once again to Pat and Kathy for a wonderful trip and to all of our participants for helping to make it a great time for all!
