September 2018 Bike Ride

On a beautiful morning (Saturday, September 15th to be exact) fourteen hardy souls joined at one point or another on a bike ride along the Fox River. We met in South Elgin around 9:30am. Kathleen and Gregg rode half way from East Dundee to meet for the ride. They met up with Pat, Ben, Phil W., Natalie, Sheri, Kathy, Dave (our host), Chris, Judy K., and yours truly. Some of the group rode north a bit and then turned around to meet up at Diamond Jim’s for lunch while others rode to the restaurant which was just under 10 miles away in East Dundee.
Walter met us at Diamond Jim’s for lunch and later on Judy S. caught up and rode her bike to meet us at the restaurant as well. After lunch some departed by bike to head a short distance home, others rode back to our meeting spot and headed home, others already had their vehicles and headed back to load up their bikes.
The scenery was beautiful with a few hills early on to make things interesting. The trees were just starting to change colors and it was quite enjoyable riding along the river and through the various towns along the route. Overall we rode just under 20 miles for the full ride with a nice break for lunch at the halfway point. Diamond Jim’s has a wonderful outside patio that allowed us to relax and rest while enjoying our meal.
