Hello! The big event on the city’s South Side was the Chicago White Sox vs the Los Angeles Angels, Saturday September 8 th 2018, and there are a few different ways of getting to Guaranteed Rate Field (a.k.a. Sox Park). But your writer simply set his car GPS for the ball park, heading to one of the parking lots where he left the car and walked to a “grassy knoll with trees” (as one member affiliated with CMSC described it) and where the writer joined the CMSC tailgate party already in progress. A good picnic buffet table was set up for members and their friends and families, a table loaded with solid ball-game food put out by Michael Thomas, current CMSC president.

As game time approached (6:10 PM), ticket holders started leaving the picnic area for Gate 3, our entrance to Sox Park bleachers for a good baseball game ahead. Unfortunately, Sox lost to Angels 12 -3. End of story. But there’s always next year!
