Hi Everyone,

Well, summer is officially over and welcome to fall. Hard to believe that as summer ended and fall arrived that Chicago reached a record high temperature and the hottest day of the year. Cooler temperatures are just around the corner though.

Speaking of just around the corner all of our trips have officially been launched. We had a wonderful launch party with free pizza at our general meeting on September 7th. If you have not done so already remember to renew your membership and sign up for any and all trips that interest you. We have trips to Granite Peak, Indianhead/Powderhorn, two trips to the lodge, and of course our Copper trip which is currently waitlisted. They are all sure to be a great time. You can check out this SnowTimes issue and also look at our website for details.

Our next general meeting will be Thursday, October 5th. Our focus now is on the upcoming ski show from October 20th – 22nd. This is our chance to showcase our club, promote our trips, and explain the wonderful advantages of being a member of Four Winds. We have been busy coming up with ideas for the ski show and have another ski show planning meeting scheduled for October 10th. We want our booth to be a draw and hopefully gain many prospective new members. We are also looking for volunteers to work the booth. If you have interest in attending the planning meeting or in volunteering to work our ski show booth please let me know. Volunteer time shots are filling up quickly.

We are having plenty of social activities coming up in October including an Oktoberfest celebration and a scarier event such as going to a haunted house. We will be having a meet and greet free pizza gathering at our general meeting in November to welcome all current, past, and prospective members on Thursday, November 2nd. We, of course, are also already discussing the holiday party. We have selected the date for the holiday party which will be Friday, December 8th. Details for this are still being worked on.

Last month we had a nice bike ride at Busse Woods and then we went to Draft Picks to watch the Bears, Cubs, and White Sox. We had a pleasant surprise as Keith Van Horne from the 1985 Super Bowl Champion Bears was there to give out free autographs, some nice giveaways, and also poured 33 beers in 5 minutes and gave them all away to the thirsty customers.

Enjoy the wonderful fall colors as you being to prepare your skis and snowboards for the winter season. Remember the lodge is a great place to visit to witness the fall colors or to just get away from things for a bit. Once again remember to renew your membership and sign up for the winter trips that your board has worked so hard to put together for your enjoyment.
