This early season trip to the Minneapolis area will be the 3rd time Four Winds is combining skiing with watching the Bears play the Vikings at beautiful, indoor, US Bank Stadium on Monday night, Dec 16th.
Because this is pretty early season, we will leave open where we ski/ride till we see what the snow situation looks like, but we have a number of great options all under an hour away.
-
Hyland Hills (no major pass) - 22 min from hotel, smaller, but amazing park setup
-
Buck Hill (on INDY pass) - 22 min from hotel, smaller, known as "Legendary Capital of American Ski Racing"
-
Afton Alps (on EPIC pass) - 24 min from hotel, bigger vertical
-
Welch (no major pass) - 39 min from hotel, bigger vertical, one of the best independent resorts in the midwest
-
Trollhaughen (on INDY pass) - 58 min from hotel, medium size relative to the others, but famous for their early season opening dates and late night skiing. They have also gotten rid of their crazy double rope and replaced it with a chair opening up some really nice additional terrain
In addition to the Bears game, this trip also offers some other non-skiing options for entertainment, including Mall of America (15 min from hotel), touring Prince's former home (Paisley Park, 30 min from hotel), and downtown Minneapolis, home of America's largest enclosed walkway (Minneapolis Skyway).
Tickets to the Bears/Vikings game are available from the Vikings website directly or from sites like tickpick.com for as little as $108 (fees included). Reach out to the trip leader to coordinate ticket sections if you want to sit nearby.
Hotel is the Holiday Inn Express St Paul S - Inver Grove Hgts, and includes free hot breakfast every morning, a hotel pool/hottub, and either 2 queen bed rooms, or 1 king bed rooms.
