Prez Says

Hi Everyone,

Happy 2018! I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season and very joyous and happy New Year! Depending on when you read this it actually might still be December but the thoughts for a wonderful 2018 remain the same.

Our holiday party that was held in early December was a huge success. I would like to thank everyone who contributed to the success of the party especially Sheri who helped coordinate and plan the event. My estimate is that we had around 50 people at our event which was held at Church Street Brewery. We also had a wonderful white elephant gift exchange that many participated in. Quite a few toys were also donated and these were given to Toys for Tots the following evening at the Toys for Tots Road Rally. There was plenty of food at the holiday party and a lot of variety as many people brought a dish to share. I hope everyone who attended had a wonderful time and hopefully those who were unable to attend can make it to our next social outing.

The Geneva walk was also in early December. Lots of chestnuts roasting on open fires, hot cider and hot chocolate, plenty of holiday lights, wonderfully decorated trees, and even all the ingredients to make s’mores as we waited for dinner at Gia Mia. The pizza there was wonderful and all the folks from Four Winds that attended the walk were able to gather at the restaurant to talk about their evening. Thank you to Phil S. for getting the word out on this and for organizing the meeting location.

Our trips are all open. There is a day trip to Wilmot on January 28th with ABSF. Our first lodge trip will be February 2nd – 4th followed by our Granite Peak trip with ABSF the weekend of February 9th – 11th. Our Indianhead/Powderhorn trip is next the weekend of February 23rd – 25th, followed quickly by another lodge trip the weekend of March 9th – 11th. The 9th annual Brew-Ski Festival is at Boyne Highlands on that Saturday with over 285 beers from around the world and over 70 breweries. Our final trip is our Copper Mountain the week of March 24th to 31st. This trip is currently waitlisted. They are all sure to be a great time. You can check out the trips in this SnowTimes issue and also look at our website for details.

Our next general meeting will be January 4th, 2018 at Real Time Sports starting at 7pm. Of course you do not need to wait until the general meeting to sign up and pay for a trip or to become a member as all the forms are online and can be filled out and mailed in and payments can all be done online.

Enjoy the rest of your SnowTimes Newsletter. All of the upcoming activities and social events will also be detailed online and in the various links associated with this SnowTimes Newsletter.

Once again thank you to all who joined at our holiday party and helping to make it a huge success. For those unable to attend we hope to see you at a future meeting, social event, or one of our wonderful trips. Once again here is to a happy, safe, and prosperous 2018!
