Come join Four Winds Ski, Ride and Socialize Club on the beautiful North Branch Trail that ultimately loops around the Botanical Gardens in Glenco. See details below.
About the trails:
Named for the North Branch of the Chicago River, along which it winds. At its northern end, the trail begins at the south end of the Chicago Botanic Garden and continues south to circle the Skokie Lagoons and Erikson Woods. It then meanders south through wooded suburbs, beside golf courses, and among open space to the forest preserve at Edgebrook in Chicago.
The trail offers several resting areas and public restrooms. For much of the trail’s route, there are alternate dirt paths through the woods that allow horseback riding. Wildlife is plentiful.
At the Chicago Botanic Garden, you can connect to the Green Bay Trail. Continue north on the North Branch Trail through the garden to Lake Cook Road and turn right (east). After less than 1 mile, you'll see the Green Bay Trail where it intersects Lake Cook Road.
Bike rentals are available at Tower Road, Harms Woods, Bunker Hill, Caldwell Woods and the Chicago Botanic Garden.
Meet Sunday May 21st at 10:30am Howard Street Inn packing lot
6700 Howard St., Niles IL. 60714
Suggestion to park later.in back so we don't take up all the prime parking spaces while NOT patronizing the restaurant / bar until
10:45am SHARP... Jump on the North Branch Trail off of Howard, right next to Howard Street Inn.
We'll ride up to the beautiful Botanical Gardens and Back. On the way back, get off the Bike Trail at Harms (runs parallel to Bike Trail) and Glenview Road then head WEST on Glenview Road to Waukegan Road 1-1/2 miles to the brewery, all sidewalk riding with fabulous views of beautiful homes.
Arrival approximately 2:00pm, meet at Ten Ninety Brewing Company
1025 N. Waukegan Road (Waukegan & Glenview Rd.), Glenview IL. 60025
Ten Ninety Brewing has an outdoor space, full tap room, 5 oz. flights, pizza for sale or you could bring your own food. We might be able to order food in for delivery too!
After you are done at Ten Ninety, head back to Howard Street Inn for cocktails / full kitchen on their outdoor patio. Views of Tam Golf Course as well.
NOTE: Some may not want to bike all the way to Botanical Gardens and back, adjust your start time at Howards Street Inn and meet us for drinks at the Brewery. For those that don't want to bike at all, drive to the Brewery and do some tastings with us! You can drive us all back to Howards Street Inn afterwards, haha!! For distances on your specific starting and stopping points of interest, please go to the internet and Google - North Branch Trail.
FYI - the driving distances by car is 5 miles one way from Howard Street Inn and Ten Ninety Brewery.
Everyone can ride single, in groups at your own pace on the trails, whatever works for you! Ultimately we will be at Ten Ninety around 2pm and at the very end, some of us I am sure will be on the Patio at Howard Street Inn enjoying the views of the golf course!
Lets kick off the summer right! Join us for a great time!
