November President's Letter

Hi Everyone,

What happened to the warm weather? The trees have pretty much shed their leaves and snow is already falling out west. Winter is quickly approaching. I can almost feel the cold air swirling by my face as I head down the slopes. What a rush that is! I cannot wait.

The Ski Show was held at the Schaumburg Convention Center over the weekend of October 20th to 22nd. I may be a bit biased but I think we had one of the best if not the best booth there. (I am providing a couple of photos of our booth for your viewing pleasure). The entire board contributed in some way or another to our booth and we had many volunteers besides just the board who contributed their time and expertise. What do you get when you have a lot of ideas and a lot of talented members working on the booth? Well, you get a great looking booth that stands apart from the rest. We had quite a few compliments on our booth and a lot of interest in our booth and our club. We also obtained many email addresses of potentially interested people. We hope to see many that we met at the ski show at the upcoming meet and greet.

The meet and greet will be Thursday, November 2nd at 7 pm at Real Time Sports. We will, of course, be providing free pizza. Our main focus will be to talk to those interested in our club about our members, our wonderful club, our trips, our lodge, and our upcoming social events.

What else is going on you ask? Well, our holiday party is coming into focus. It will be Friday, December 8th at Church Street Brewery in Itasca at 6:30 pm. Details of this event will be provided in this SnowTimes issue.

Because the Holiday party is on Friday, December 8th we have decided to cancel our normal Thursday meeting. Therefore the Thursday, December 7th meeting at Real Time Sports has been canceled. If you wish to sign up for a trip or update your membership that can either be done online or at the Holiday party. We will bring forms along just in case.

Our trips are all open. We have trips to Granite Peak, Indianhead/Powderhorn, two trips to the lodge, and of course our Copper trip which is currently waitlisted. They are all sure to be a great time. Hope you decide to join us on one or more of these trips. You can check out the trips in this SnowTimes issue and also look at our website for details.

We also will be having a workers weekend to winterize the lodge and do some annual maintenance the weekend of November 17th to 19th. If you wish to help out please let one of our board members know.

Enjoy the rest of your SnowTimes Newsletter. All of the upcoming activities will also be detailed in the various links associated with this SnowTimes Newsletter.

Enjoy the rest of your fall, have a great Thanksgiving, and get those skis and snowboards waxed and ready for the slopes. Remember the lodge is a great place to visit any time of year. Once again remember to renew your membership and sign up for the winter trips that your board has worked so hard to put together for your enjoyment. Hope to see you at the upcoming meet and greet holiday party, or social event in the near future.
